Greetings on this the last day of 2008. While this is the first posting for Afternoon Classics it is only the beginning! Jazz Tonight , Ho Ho ho

Tonight I'm featuring a series by world Class Jazz Master Bassist RAY BROWN... Earning his bones in the 50's & 60's by anchoring and cementing many of the jazz monsters with his melding bass runs and consistent tempo for artists like Dizzy Gillespe, Oscar Peterson and The Modern Jazz Quartet. He conceived the idea to record sessions with a culimnation of many of the greats he's played with and some he had wanted to play with. StoryCorps staff will be present with you and your partner throughout the interview process to help you have a comfortable and meaningful experience, and to handle all technical aspects of the recording. You will receive a broadcast-quality audio CD, and with your permission, copies will go to the Library of Congress, to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Rasmuson Library Oral History Program, and KRNN.
