As we continue with our pledge drive our retrospective of the music that has been played in the past six months continues also. There are any number of favorites out there, at least as many as there are listeners, yet we will try to get as many in as possible, each year has its number ones and they are the ones that can stand much repitition.
Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite No. 2, Raymond Leppard conducting the English Chamber Orchestra.
Ravel: Piano Concerto in G for the Left Hand, Michele Campanella - piano, Ginluigi Gelmetti conducting the Radio Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart.
Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue, Andre Previn at the piano and conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
Milhaud: Le Boeuf sur le toit, Op. 58, Kent Nagano and the Orchestre de L'Opera de Lyon.
Rozsa: Sinfonia Concertante, Op. 29, Gregor Piatigorsky - cello and leading a Chamber Orchstra.
Beethoven: Trio No. 11 in G minor, Op. 121a, The Beaux Arts Trio.
Brahms: Five Gesange, Thomas Quasthof - baritone, Justus Zeyen - piano.
Shostakovich: Concerto No. 1 for Piano, Trumpet and Orchestra, Op. 35, Yefim Bronfman - piano, Thomas Stevens - trumpet, Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Bizet: Carmen Suite No. 2, Eugene Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Bernstein: Prelude, fugue and riffs (1955), Bernstein conducting the Columbia Jazz Combo.
