Good afternoon on this Earth Day. As someone put it we are observing the earth's birthday - well, anyway it is a good thing to take a day our and pay homage to the good old plnet we live on. After all it is what sustains us!
We will begin with:
Vivaldi:  Flute concerto in D, RV 428, Janet See on the flute and Nicholas McGegan conducting the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra.
Hovhaness:  And God Created Great Whales, David Amos with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
         ---       Symphony No. 2, Mysterious Mountain, Gerard Schwarz conducting the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Beethoven:  Symphony No. 6 in F, Pastorale, Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic.
Shostakovich:  Folkvest from The Gadfly, Leonid Grin conducting the Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
Honegger: Danse de la chévre (solo flute), Emily Beynon - flute.
Milhaud: La creation du monde Kent Nagano conducting the Orchestre de L'Opera de Lyon.
Thompson:  The River, Richard Kapp conducting the Philharmonia Virtuosi.
Auric: Imaginées 1, Emily Beynon - flute and Andrew West - piano.
Grofé:    The Grand Canyon Suite, Howard Hanson and the Eastman Rochester Orchestra.
Hovhaness: Symphony No. 66, Hymn to Glacier Peak, Gerard Schwarz and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
