Afternoon Classics - Thursday, May 7, 2009

This is the day to breakout the cake and candles for Tchaikovksy and Brahms. It would take a burn permit to light them all though. 
Mozart: Minuet for a Symphony in C, KV409/383f, Sir Neville Marriner conducting the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
Tchaikovsky:  Suite for Orchestra No. 4, Mozartiana, Sir Neville Marriner, Radio Symphony of Stuttgart.
Brahms:  Variations on a Theme by Hadyn, Op. 56a, Yoel Levi conducting the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Brahms:  Violin Sonata No. 1 in G, Op. 78, Itzhak Perlman on the violin with Vladimir Ashkenazy on the piano. 
Tchaikovsky:  Concert Fantasy in G, Op. 56, Dimitris Sgouros on the piano, Walter Weller conducting the London Philharmonic.
Mozart:   Symphony  No. 40 in G minor, "the great G minor" KV 550, Sir Neville Marriner conducting the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
Takemitsu:   Fantasma/Cantos, Sabine Meyer on the clarinet and Claudio Abbado leading the Berlin Philharmonic.
