Afternoon Classics - Thursday, January 7, 2010

Today's program does not linger for very long on any specific school or period of music. Although it is very eclectic I do believe it hangs together rather well;

Sonata for Clarinet & piano, Op. 120, #1 of Johannes Brahms. Jon Manasse on the clarinet; Jon Nakamatsu at the piano.
Kammermusik No. 7, Op. 46, No. 2 of Paul Hindemith performed by Leo van Doeselaar - organ; Riccardo Chailly conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Symphony No. 15 in A, Op. 141 of Dmitri Shostakovich. Bernard Haitink conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Capriccio d'aprés Le bal masqué by Francis Poulenc performed by Alexandre Tharaud & François Chapliin - pianos.
Raymonda, Ballet Suite, Op. 57a by Alexander Glazunov. Yondoni Butt conducts the London Symphony Orchestra.
Symphony No. 6 "Fantaisies symphoniques" of Bohuslav Martinu performed by Arthur Fagen and the National Symphony of Ukraine.
Symphony on a French Mountain Air, Op. 25 by Vincent D'Indy. Serge Baudo and the Orchestre de Paris.
Sonata for piano & cello by Francis Poulenc performed by Alexandre Tharaud - piano & François Groben - cello
