A Little Bit of Broadway

Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins is the story of that practically perfect Nanny, written as a series of books by P.L. Travers. The books were made in to a musical film in 1964 by Disney (with Julie Andrews winning the Oscar for Best Actress, with the score winning for best score and Chim-chim-chere-ee was best song.) 40 years later, it moved to the stage, with a book that follows both the film but even more closely the books it is based on. So it’s a bit darker than the film, especially when the toys put Jane and Michael on trial for their temper and mistreatment of their toys. But of course, everyone comes through their various trials and tribulations and life is much better for all.
