A Little Bit of Broadway
Kay Thompson (1909 - 1998) was an author, composer, musician, actress and singer. She is best known as the creator of the Eloise children's books. She had a profound influence on Hollywood musicals as singer, vocal coach, arranger, composer, etc, etc, etc. The recently released CD we are listening to today show not only her ability to sing, but compose and arrange. Want to see her? Her best known film is with Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn – she played the Diana Vreeland-like fashion magazine editor in Funny Face (which seems appropriate since she had her own line of designer women’s clothing.)

Book: Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott
Eddie Clendening (Elvis Presley), Lance Guest (Johnny Cash), Levi Kreis (Jerry Lee Lewis), Robert Britton Lyons (Carl Perkins), Elizabeth Stanley (Dyanne) and Hunter Foster (Sam Phillips).
Nominated for 3 Tony Awards, Levi Kreis won Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical.
Good Ol' Girls
Good Ol’ Girls has been described as "Virginia Woolf meets Dolly Parton!" Adapted by Paul Ferguson, Good Ol’ Girls is based on the stories of two acclaimed Southern authors: Lee Smith and Jill McCorkle, with songs by Nashville hit-makers Matraca Berg and Marshall Chapman.
Co-Author Lee Smith describes a Good Ol’ Girl as “She's got spunk, humor and independence; she's strong, smart, outspoken, and often, too trusting. She knows that big hair and a big heart do not mean a small mind... You don't want to cross a good ol' girl. She'll bring you a casserole, but she'll kill you, too.” Huffington Post February 15, 2010
Sally Mayes, Lauren Kennedy, Teri Ralston, Gina Stewart and Liza Vann portray those big haired, big hearted women.
