A Little Bit of Broadway

Striking 12

Groovelily's New Year's Eve offering of Striking 12 is the mixing of a modern New Year Eve story with The Little Match Girl.  Groovelily changes matches to SAD Christmas tree lights and thank goodness their end is not nearly as depressing as Han Christian Anderson's!

Check it out!

To finish out the time, music about the new year and The Three Kings coming.

A Little Bit of Broadway

A Christmas Story

It’s 1940’s Indiana, and Ralphie only wants one thing for Christmas – an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle.  The story by Jean Shepherd was made into a movie in 1983 which has become a holiday classic.  And now it is on the Broadway stage, just in time for Christmas.  It started life in 2010 in Seattle, and is now on Broadway in a limited run. Music and lyrics are by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

If you get to New York by December 30, take the opportunity to follow Ralphie’s quest to get the most perfect Christmas gift ever.

We have a few minutes till Marian McPartland and Piano Jazz celebrates their Piano Jazz Christmas show, so let's play some holiday classics!

Winter Wonderland - Dave's True Story
Have a holly jolly Christmas - Johnny Mathis
Frosty the Snowman - Robert Mosci
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - Steve Tyrell
Santa Claus is coming to town - Maureen McGovern
Sleigh Ride/I wish you a merry Christmas - Barrel organ

A Little Bit of Broadway

A Christmas Carol

It’s not the holiday season with reading, watching or listening to Charles Dickens’ classic tale of how someone really can change their life, especially if three ghosts help out.  Today we are listening to the the 1995 Broadway show A Christmas Carol, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.  We don’t have enough time to listen to it all but we’ll certainly have enough time to be visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
